International Women’s Day Activities

As you may know, March 8 is the International Women’s Day. The day celebrates the important role women and girls play in our societies, while also looking at gender equality related issues around the world.

This day is a good opportunity to show how crucial this matter is to TVET. Some suggestions to use this opportunity:

  • Sensitize on Gender issues within your institution.

UNESCO-UNEVOC has developed an article that you can use for this purpose (www.unevoc.unesco.org/l/563). We will also regularly post articles and facts from key gender experts and UNEVOC partners about empowering women through TVET. Follow us on twitter and Facebook to keep yourself informed about the content.

  • Show your action in favour of gender equity on social medias, using #IWD2018 and #UNEVOC, so it may have maximum visibility.

  • Discuss girls and women in STEM on the TVeT Forum.

Like last year, we have set up a special thread at the occasion of ‘IWD’. This year, we invite you to share your input on women in STEM, as UNESCO-UNEVOC would like to initiate a new activity on this thematic area: http://www.unevoc.unesco.org/go.php?q=e-Forum+-+Message+Board&skin=efor&lang=en&action=threadlist&thread=3922
