TVEC conducted two awareness programmes on NVQ for employees of M/S. Lanka Mineral Sands Limited (Government fully owned Business entity) in Pulmodai and Codbay, China Bay units. The programmes were held on 16-09-2011. Almost all of the employees of these two locations participated for the sessions.Two programmes were conducted with a view of awarding NVQ through RPL route in order to satisfy the Company’s scheme of recruitment (SOR) as a fulfillment of the requirements of Public Administration Circular no. 2/2009

On the request of Hon. Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, the chief Minister of the Eastern Provincial Council, the TVEC developed a Provincial VET Plan for the Eastern province to analyse demand for supply of skills training provision in the Eastern province.  The work has been successfully completed and the printed version of the publication was officially handed over to the Chief Minister by Dr. T. A. Piyasiri, Director General of the TVEC on 11th May 2011 at the Chief Minister's Office in Trincomalee.
 

A Provincial Steering Committee has also been appointed to implement the recommendations of the VET Plan of which the first meeting was also held on the same day.

Browns Group of Companies, TVEC conducted an awareness programme on NVQ for skilled employees of Brows Group located at the battery manufacturing plant, in Ratmalana. Main intention of the awareness is to facilitate the employees to get NVQ certificates through RPL route.

Awareness held on 09-03-2011 at the Exide battery manufacturing plant in Ratmalana. Assistant HR Manager of the Group HR division of the Browns Group and NVQ division of TVEC jointly co-ordinated the programme. A senior officer of the NAITA is also took part.
 

NVQ division of TVEC with collaboration of ATPA (Kurunegala) conducted an awareness on NVQ framework for the area officers viz. Samurdhi Officers, Grama Niladharis ect. on 30-11-2010 at the Auditorium of YMBA, Kurunegala.

NVQ division of TVEC conducted an awareness on NVQ framework for the district co-ordinators (North and East) of YMCA, on 20-11-2010 at the Auditorium CARITAS, Colombo 08. These photographs covering some events of the session.

The first surveillance audit for ISO certification of TVEC was held on 21st September 2010 by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, and as a result of the audit, TVEC was granted for ISO 9001:2008 certification.

To mark the International Day for Peace, TVEC organized a lecture on mental health and the lecture was delivered on 23-09-2010, by an eminent Psychiatrist Dr. N. Kumanayake on peace at home, office and with peers.

NVQ division of TVEC has organized its second launching programme in 2010 to introduce National Competency Standards developed for Three Wheeler Mechanic, Outboard Motor Mechanic and Agricultural Equipment Mechanic. Training providers in these areas attended and the programme was held on 19-08-2010

NVQ division has organized an awareness on NVQ framework for M/S. Lanka Tiles PLC, factory at Jalatara, Ranala on 28-07-2010. Machine Operators, Workshop Personnel and Clerical Staff attended for the session. TVEC intends to followup this event with issuing NVQ certificates through RPL.

Applications are invited by TVEC from industry personals / trainers for training and appointment as NVQ Assessors. The selected will be trained to conduct competency based assessments for awarding of NVQ certificates. more...

The NVQ Level 5 & 6 Diploma programs are in the process of being implemented in the colleges of technology .The implementation of the NVQ Level 5 and 6 diploma programmes takes place in two stages. Initially the trainees will undergo the Foundation Programme that will have about 265 hours of contact time. Towards the end of the foundation programme the trainees will commence the Level 5 curriculum proper. more...
