01 How to obtain an NVQ certificate through RPL ?  
   
  • Any candidate who wishes to obtain NVQ certificate through RPL route, should initially register with any of public sector vocational training institution listed at the “More information section” in this page.

  • Candidates could be registered for RPL by returning a duly completed registration form along with the registration fees (a form could be obtained from the institution).

  • Thereafter the institution concern will take appropriate actions to allocate assessors to conduct an assessment.

  • In the meantime the candidate could go through the respective National Skill Standard as a guide of instructions for competencies of respective NVQ levels and assessment details.

  • Thereafter the institute will assign assessors for assessment.

  • Candidate could liaise with appointed assessors on assessment location (if required) and date & time of assessment.

  • You can produce your certificates, appreciation letters, site photographs and any other materials that would support to prove your skills at the assessment.

  • If the candidate successful at the assessment, the assessor will inform the candidate on his/her performance or if not, then the assessor will explain his/her weaknesses as to why he/she disqualified at the assessment. This will help the candidate to improve his weak areas at the repeat assessment.

  • There is no specific time duration for repeat assessment for those disqualify at the first time. If the candidate is successful at the assessment the host institution will take necessary arrangements to issues an NVQ certificate to the candidate.

  • The registration fees and other assessment charges are to be borne by the candidate.

  • RPL assessments are conducted mostly with the use of supportive evidences. However, assessor should be satisfied with evidences and produced their authenticity.

 
  02 What is the Special features of RPL ?  
   
  • NVQ through RPL is awarded, without considering how, when and where the candidate has acquired his/her skills.

  • RPL route of NVQ assessments are fair, impartial, transparent, flexible and valid.

  • RPL route of NVQ assessments are mostly based on supportive evidences.

  • There is no discrimination for NVQ certificate holders through RPL against CBT route. Certificate does not show that it is awarded through RPL.

  • Candidate could make an appeal on RPL assessment decisions and results if he/she has any doubt.

 
  03 What is the Benefits of NVQ (RPL) ?  
   
  • More access to gain higher qualification within the NVQ framework .. upward mobility, or even certain exemptions for other qualifications

  • A recognized certificate for unrecognized skills (informal).

  • NVQ certificate holders can seek promotions in their workplaces.

  • Better access to foreign employment opportunities.

  • Speedy method of obtaining an NVQ certificate. However, candidate must possess adequate skills & competencies.

The main coordinating bodies of RPL are Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission and National Apprentices and Industrial Training Authority.
