Review and update existing policies and strategies |

The Planning & Research division has
been engaged in revision of existing policies and
development of new policies for Technical & Vocational
Education and Training (TVET) sector of Sri Lanka. Under
this program following two activities are underway;
- Development of TVET
Policy Framework of Sri Lanka
- Development of TVET
Policy, Strategy and Action Plans for Vulnerable
Groups of Sri Lanka

Development of TVET Policy Framework of Sri Lanka |
|
| |
The
Commission, with the assistance of German Technical
Cooperation (GTZ) had successfully conducted a program
to develop a National Policy Framework for TVET Sector
in the year 2007. The main objective of this effort is
to provide quality assured training so as to meet local
& global skills demand, which leads to increase economic
and social growth of the country. |

The
Commission had submitted the final document on National
Policies of TVET to the National Education Commission
(NEC) in the year 2008. This document will be forwarded
to His Excellency the President for approval in 2009. |

Development of TVET Policy, Strategy and Action Plans
for Vulnerable Groups of Sri Lanka |
|

The TVEC,
in association with the International Labor Organization
(ILO) Sri Lanka Office, convened a national consultation
for designing skills training for vulnerable groups of
Sri Lanka. The TVEC organized the workshop with
participation of almost all stakeholders who are working
in relation to vulnerable/underprivileged population of
Sri Lanka. The workshop was held at the Villa Ocean View
Hotel, Wadduwa from 14th to 16th July 2008 with
participation of about 100 invitees from public sector,
private sector, INGOs, donors and other stakeholders |

The
policies and strategies derived through the consultation
process have been validated at a workshop held in
Colombo in August 2009 and the final policy document is
to be out from the press in near future. |
