Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC)

Ministry of  Vocational & Technical Training
The Ministry of Skills development ,Vocational & Technical Education is entrusted with formulation of policies on TVET and  implementation of such policies through its implementation arms (HRDC, TVEC, NITESL, DTET & VTA, NAITA).

Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET)
DTET, which functions under the purview of the Ministry of Tertiary Education and lTraining, manages 33 Technical Collages that offer craft level training

Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka (VTA)
VTA operates under the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Training. It provides skilled and semi-skill level training mainly for rural youth

National Apprenticeship and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA)
NAITA functions under the Ministry of Tertiaryl Education and Training. It manages the State-sponsored National apprenticeship Scheme.

National Institute of Technical Education of
Sri Lanka (NITESL)

NITESL is the lead body that is mainly responsible for teacher training, curriculum development and teaching aid and material development. NITESL is the under the Ministry of Tertiary Education and  Training.

The Skills Development Project 
The skills Development project has been set up with the main objective ,to improve the quality and relevance of  technical education and vocational training  systems. The project is implemented  under the Ministry of Tertiary Education andl Training with the funding  assistance from  the Asian Development Bank.

Our Links with International Organizations

TVEC functions as the UNEVOC centre in Sri Lanka. UNEVOC is the international project on Technical and Vocational Education of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). We share UNEVOC information with TVET agencies.

Asia and Pacific Skills Development Programme (APSDEP)
APSDEP is the regional programme of the ILO that promotes Technical and Vocational Education and Training in the region. TVEC is the focal point of APSDEP in Sri Lanka.
